one year later...

It’s been a year since we found out we were expecting twins… and just like that, they’re 6 months old.

It’s been a pretty incredible experience, to say the least.

From all the fear that was projected onto me during pregnancy, to being so sick for nearly the entire nine months, to being hardly able to walk by the end to overcoming it all and welcoming our babies at home, just 4 minutes apart.

Then came actually having two newborns. Feeding TWO babies around the clock. Learning how to do an impressive number of things with my feet because both of my arms were full. Figuring out how to comfort two babies, carry two babies, feed two babies, and somehow keep the rest of life moving at the same time.

But then there’s this whole other side of having twins that I never could have understood until I experienced it. The secret twin mama club you suddenly become a part of. Watching them talk and babble to each other. Seeing one instantly settle when the other is nearby. The way they look for each other. The incredible bond that was there before they ever entered this world and somehow just keeps getting sweeter.

And then there’s the love and support that has surrounded us through all of it…from our family, friends, and so many people who have encouraged us along the way.

This year has stretched me in ways I never expected.

It’s been exhausting and challenging and messy and beautiful and so incredibly exciting. There were so many moments during pregnancy when I was told what could go wrong, and so many moments since when I’ve wondered how in the world I was going to manage all of this. And yet, here we are.

A year after seeing two little babies on that screen and six months into knowing and loving the two little people they have become.

I prayed so hard for these babies. And I’m just so thankful that God answered those prayers.

Happy 6 months, Frankie & Sophie.

What an incredible adventure you two have already been.
